About Me and This Site

Hello! My name is Richard Wilson.  I have been working with computers for a long time and have learnt a lot about how to make them behave. I decided to set this site up because I often help friends and family sort out their PC problems, and I thought it would be good to share my expertise more widely.

This site is here to help you recover from PC problems with as little hassle as humanly possible.  Along the way, that involves explaining  computer problems, but with the focus firmly on stuff that actually works.  If there’s a suitable product that makes it possible for mere mortals to quickly solve a PC problem, I will often point you towards it if that’s the best solution, even if there’s a 15 step manual procedure that you could follow - because a software fix is usually more reliable as well as quicker.

My general approach is to aim this site not at technical whizzes, but at people who see the computer as a way to get things done.
